The Story Behind Canine Connection

My journey into dog behaviour started with a simple goal: to help people truly understand their dogs. I’ve seen first-hand how much pressure and worry behaviour challenges can create, and how powerful compassionate, informed support can be in rebuilding trust and connection.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Animal Welfare and Behaviour (First Class), and my work is firmly rooted in modern behavioural science. I believe evidence-based, force-free approaches are not only more ethical, but far more effective in creating lasting change and stronger bonds between dogs and their people.

My work with numerous dog rescue centres across Derbyshire and Staffordshire has given me experience supporting dogs with a wide range of backgrounds and challenges. From rescue dogs learning to feel safe again to family pets struggling with anxiety or reactivity, I’ve worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes and stories.

Every dog is an individual, and so is every household. I don’t believe in off-the-shelf solutions. Instead, I tailor each plan to your dog’s needs, personality and environment, as well as your lifestyle, experience and goals. Progress comes through patience, empathy and teamwork.

At Canine Connection, my aim is to make behaviour support feel accessible, kind and effective. I’ll help you understand why your dog behaves the way they do and give you practical tools to bring calm and confidence back into everyday life.

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll usually find me out on long countryside walks, reading the latest behaviour research, or spending time with my own dogs, who constantly remind me why this work matters so much.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about training dogs. It’s about building real connections.
